What’s included:
Older sheds — particularly those built before 2003 — may contain pressure-treated lumber that was treated with chromated copper arsenate (CCA), a wood preservative containing arsenic. This material can’t be legally burned or disposed of in standard landfills in California.
Even sheds without treated lumber generate a mix of materials — wood, roofing, metal fasteners, insulation — that require proper sorting and disposal. Simply tossing everything in a dumpster may not be compliant with local waste regulations.
